Split-Shift Before & After School Caregiver (Fayetteville, PA)

Location: Fayetteville, PA (Chambersburg Area School District)
Schedule: 2 Days per Week (Strictly Mondays and Tuesdays)
Hours: Standard Split Shift: 7 :30 AM – 9:00 AM & 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
(Note: Extended hours required on Mondays/Tuesdays for school delays, early dismissals, or snow days)

Job Summary Seeking a highly reliable, punctual individual to provide in-home before and after-school care for two independent children (ages 9 and 11). Because I am a working single mother with an early shift, punctuality for the 6:00 AM start time is strictly non-negotiable. This position involves managing the morning routine, driving the children to school for car rider drop-off, and meeting them in the afternoon. This role also requires flexibility to provide extended care during school schedule disruptions (snow days, delays, early dismissals) that occur on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Responsibilities

  • Morning Shift & School Drop-Off (7:30 AM – 9:00 AM): Arrive on time, supervise the morning routine, ensure they eat breakfast, and pack backpacks. You must safely drive both children to school and drop them off via the car rider line between 8:45 AM and 9:00 AM. [1, 2]
  • Standard Afternoon Shift (2:30 PM – 3:00 PM): Meet the children at their designated afternoon pickup location/bus stop, provide a healthy after-school snack, and supervise homework until the parent returns. [1]
  • School Schedule Disruptions (Mondays & Tuesdays Only):
  • 2-Hour Delays: Stay with the children longer in the morning to adjust to the delayed school drop-off time (approx. 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM).
  • Early Dismissals: Arrive early to pick up the kids at their adjusted dismissal time and supervise them at home until 3:30 PM.
  • Snow Days / Full Closures: Provide full-day care at the house from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM to cover the parent's work shift.
  • Enforce Household Behavior Boundaries: Maintain a structured environment by strictly enforcing a zero kids' screen-time policy (no tablets, TV, or video games allowed).
  • Kitchen Care & Dish Duty: Prepare simple breakfasts and snacks. Wash, dry, and put away all dishes used during your shift and wipe down counters before leaving. (Note: Trash management is not required).
  • Medical & First Aid Response: Implement basic first aid protocols immediately in case of minor injuries or emergencies.

Requirements & Strict Policies

  • Clean Driving Record & Reliable Vehicle: Because morning school drop-off is required, you must possess a highly reliable personal vehicle (crucial for winter weather), a valid driver's license, and up-to-date auto insurance. [1]
  • Severe Asthma Care: My son has asthma. The caregiver must have basic first aid knowledge, be fully confident recognizing respiratory triggers (monitoring outdoor heat/humidity/cold air), and know how to properly administer a rescue inhaler via a spacer chamber.
  • Strict No-Pet Policy (Severe Allergy): Due to a severe child allergy, no animals are allowed on the property. Caregivers must ensure their clothing is entirely free of pet dander before entering the home. [1]
  • Sitter Device Policy: The caregiver agrees to limit personal smartphone use to emergency coordination, brief parent updates, or shift logistics.
  • Prior Experience: Previous experience working with school-age children in childcare, babysitting, or youth program settings.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $18.00 – $22.00 / hour (Dependent on experience and certifications).
  • Gas & Expenses: Paid weekly. Gas mileage reimbursement or a flat weekly stipend will be provided to cover the daily school transportation.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Work Location: In person

Salary : $18 - $22
