This paid position offers flexible scheduling (as a substitue) or a fixed schedule (as a floater) and the opportunity to work with children across various age groups, including preschool through early elementary levels.
Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop appropriate activities aligned with curriculum standards
- Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management and classroom management techniques
- Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through engaging instructional strategies
- Assist with curriculum development tailored to early childhood education, literacy, math, and special education needs
- Foster an inclusive environment by working with children with diverse learning styles, including those with autism or other special needs
- Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and staff regarding classroom activities and student progress
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and create a nurturing space conducive to learning and exploration
Qualifications
- 2 years Prior classroom experience in early childhood education or preschool settings is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in teaching young children
- Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, tutoring, and working with individuals with autism or special education needs
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and families
- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior and foster positive relationships with children
- Background in Montessori or literacy education is a plus; familiarity with preschool programs is advantageous
- Passion for working with children and commitment to creating a supportive learning environment
- Work 10 hour days through the school year and summer
