Truck Driver – Commercial Floor Covering Company
Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation, delivery, and pickup of commercial flooring materials, tools, and equipment to and from jobsites, warehouses, vendors, and company facilities. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring materials arrive accurately, on time, and in good condition while maintaining excellent customer and jobsite relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate company trucks in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Deliver commercial flooring materials including carpet, resilient flooring, hardwood, ceramic tile, adhesives, and related supplies to jobsites and customer locations.
Load, unload, secure, and transport materials to prevent damage during transit.
Verify delivery tickets, purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents for accuracy.
Assist warehouse personnel with receiving, staging, organizing, and inventory control as needed.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain required DOT records.
Ensure vehicles are clean, properly maintained, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
Coordinate delivery schedules with project managers, warehouse staff, and installation crews.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Pick up returned materials, tools, equipment, and jobsite debris as directed.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively when interacting with customers, general contractors, vendors, and employees.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
Qualifications
Valid CDL Class A or B license preferred (or as required by vehicle type).
Clean driving record and ability to meet insurance requirements.
DOT Medical Card
Previous commercial driving, construction, flooring, or building materials delivery experience preferred.
Ability to operate forklifts and warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to load and unload heavy flooring materials, including carpet rolls, flooring cartons, and installation supplies.
Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and walking.
Ability to work in warehouses, construction sites, and varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
Warehouse, construction jobsites, and road travel.
Early morning starts and occasional overtime may be required.
Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
