Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys digging into operational and project accounting details, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to help improve processes and drive results.
This individual will play a key role in month-end close, project accounting, WIP reporting, job cost analysis, and supporting operational teams throughout the organization. The role will also assist with ongoing system and process improvements, including ERP and ServiceTitan implementation efforts, and will have other general responsibilities of an accounting nature
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Support project accounting functions, including:
- WIP reporting
- Job cost tracking and analysis
- Cost-to-complete reviews
- Revenue recognition support
- Partner with project managers and operations teams on customer billings, including progress billing and AIA-style billing processes
- Analyze project financial performance and assist with identifying cost variances and operational trends
- Assist with implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of ERP and operational systems
- Help improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and internal controls
- Support audit requests and preparation of supporting documentation
- Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
- Perform general accounting and operational accounting responsibilities in support of the broader accounting & finance team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience required
- Construction or project-based accounting experience required
- Experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
- Experience with ViewPoint Spectrum, ServiceTitan, and Sage Intacct preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based position.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.

- Ability to occasionally lift and carry files, documents, or office materials up to 20 pounds.
