Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and bilingual (Spanish/English) HR Generalist / Payroll Assistant to support daily Human Resources and payroll operations. This role is hands-on and operational, supporting payroll processing, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with hourly and field employees, understands payroll and timekeeping processes, and can serve as a reliable point of contact for Spanish-speaking employees while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Review and verify weekly timesheets for accuracy, job costing, and wage compliance.
- Assist with payroll processing using UKG or similar payroll systems.
- Support payroll corrections, retro pay, and manual adjustments when needed.
- Respond to employee payroll questions and escalate issues appropriately.
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records, including onboarding documents, status changes, and certifications.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, including preparing new-hire packets and scheduling I-9 verification.
- Support employee relations by addressing routine HR questions professionally and confidentially.
- Assist with HR communications, forms, and internal documentation.
Benefits & Leave Support
- Assist with employee benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Support open enrollment activities and benefits communications.
- Track eligibility timelines and assist with basic leave administration, including FMLA coordination when assigned.
Compliance & Reporting
- Support compliance with employment and labor requirements, including I-9/E-Verify, OSHA documentation, and personnel records.
- Assist with certified payroll documentation and prevailing wage reporting when required.
- Support recordkeeping related to safety training and compliance tracking.
Administrative Support
- Schedule interviews, onboarding meetings, and HR appointments.
- Distribute paychecks, employee documents, and HR materials as needed.
- Provide Spanish-English translation support for employees and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Bachelor's preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in HR, payroll, or administrative support.
- Experience with payroll systems such as UKG, ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of onboarding, employee records, I-9/E-Verify, and basic employment regulations.
- Certified payroll or prevailing wage experience preferred.
- Fluent in English and Spanish required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
