Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caretaker to join our team. We are looking for people who love animals as much as we do! Working here will never feel like a job because you get paid to play with all kinds of cats and dogs. Ruff Life Pet Hotel is the "home away from home" for our guests and we do everything that we can to make their owners feel comfortable leaving their fur babies with us. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care ensuring their health and well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.
Responsibilities
You would be responsible for taking care of all of the pets in our facility during the duration of their stay. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Feed and give water to pets based on owner’s instructions
- Give medications to pets based on owner’s instructions
- Take dogs out for frequent potty breaks and dispose of waste in secure canisters
- Play with dogs – inside or outside based on weather – to give them exercise and attention
- Play with cats – inside to give them exercise and attention
- Clean out litter boxes of cats
- Keep pets' items organized
- Keep facility's items organized
- Secure facility when you leave the building for the safety of the pets that are staying
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal enclosures and facilities
- Assist with kennel operations, including cleaning and sanitizing areas
- Support front desk operations by greeting visitors and answering inquiries about animal care services
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- MUST LOVE CATS AND DOGS!
- Must feel comfortable with all breeds of dogs including pitbulls, doberman pinschers, rottweilers, and other breeds considered aggressive. (We will not have you take care of a pet that we are not comfortable taking care of ourselves.)
- Have reliable transportation
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information
- Must have patience working with animals
- Ability to move quickly and be active
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely
- Experience with cats and dogs in a professional setting is a plus but NOT required.
Schedule
- Weekend availability is a MUST! Shifts on Saturdays and Sundays are 6 - 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM - 2 PM, 4 - 6:30 PM, 8 - 9:30 PM. This does include all holidays.
- Monday - Friday shifts are 8 - 9:30 PM
- During the summer there may be a possibility of working during the weekdays.
- We offer flexible scheduling, but candidates must be available for a minimum of one shift per week.
