Summary
The QC Technician is responsible for performing routine Quality Control inspections and testing of Rudolph instruments, Quartz Control Plates, and specialty products. This role ensures all products meet established quality standards before shipment or release. The QC Technician will document test results, follow established procedures, and escalate any issues to the Quality Control Supervisor and Lead Auditor.
In addition, the QC Technician will actively support Rudolph’s culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, writing and revising QC procedures, and practicing 5S workplace organization principles to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Perform QC inspections and functional testing of instruments (e.g., Polarimeters, Refractometers, Density Meters, Automation Systems).
- Conduct QC on Quartz Control Plates and specialty products as required.
- Complete QC checklists, rejection reports, and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to established QC procedures, standards, and work instructions.
- Identify and communicate product nonconformities or issues to supervisors.
- Maintain and update test logs, calibration records, and equipment logs.
- Support corrective and preventative action investigations by providing accurate QC data.
Continuous Improvement & 5S
- Contribute ideas and feedback to improve QC processes, product quality, and workflow efficiency.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and cross-departmental problem-solving.
- Practice and promote 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) in daily work to ensure a clean, safe, and organized workplace.
- Take proactive ownership of workspace conditions and equipment readiness.
General Duties
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area, following safety and cleanliness standards.
- Assist in maintaining QC notebooks, developing and updating procedures and reference documents.
- Collaborate with production, service, and engineering teams to resolve QC-related concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in electronics, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in electronics, instrumentation, or quality inspection preferred.
- Experience working in a regulated Quality Program or ISO environment is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills — able to create formulas, pivot tables, and charts to support QC reporting and analysis.

Working Conditions
- Work performed primarily in manufacturing and testing areas, with some office-based documentation.
- Requires standing, sitting, and handling of delicate instruments for extended periods.
- Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with flexibility for occasional overtime during high-demand periods.
