GEM Inc. is looking for an experience Fab Shop Supervisor to join its team. The Fab Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the fabrication shop, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role involves managing shop personnel, coordinating with project managers, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The supervisor will play a key role in planning, scheduling, and executing fabrication activities while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Planning & Coordination
- Review project scope and fabrication requirements with Project Managers.
- Develop and maintain fabrication schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate priorities between shop, field, and project teams.
- Ensure proper creation of Work Orders, maintain dashboards for tracking progress.
- Participate in development of fabrication communication solutions across all trades.
- Supervise all fabrication activities across trades.
- Issue fabrication packages based on priority and schedule.
- Monitor quality control standards and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain equipment and oversee preventive maintenance schedules.
- Exemplify and enforce safety culture throughout the shop.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
-Resource Management
- Determine required shop manpower and allocate resources effectively.
- Order consumables and manage inventory of raw materials.
- Coordinate trucking and logistics for job site deliveries.
-Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity.
- Provide training and mentorship to shop personnel.
- Collaborate with engineering and VDC teams for fabrication strategies.
SKILLS
-Strong knowledge of welding, metal fabrication processes, and blueprint interpretation.
-Proficiency in software for office (Microsoft Office Suite) and fabrication needs (Bluebeam Revu).
-Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
-Commitment to safety and quality standards.
-Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
-Technical degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
-Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in fabrication or manufacturing.
-Completion of skilled trade school.
-Certifications in welding or fabrication processes, preferred.
