Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Handle retail sales transactions accurately using our Square POS, processing cash and card payments efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food prep stations, seating areas, and equipment to uphold food safety standards
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about food and beverages, and provide friendly, attentive service
- Manage food handling responsibilities by preparing light food items and ensuring proper food safety procedures are followed
- Restock supplies, organize inventory, and ensure all products are properly stored according to health regulations
- Support team members during busy periods by managing multiple tasks such as serving drinks, taking orders, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or café environments is preferred; barista experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with POS systems like Square POS for retail sales transactions and cash handling
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests
- Basic math skills for processing cash transactions accurately and managing register operations
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours
- Must be able to commute to downtown Pittsburgh, public transportation is ideal.
