The Plant Carpenter/Laborer provides multi-discipline support for the structural and logistical phases of facility construction and renovation. This role balances rough carpentry, concrete formwork, and general site labor to support earthwork and mechanical installations. This position is essential for maintaining site safety and production momentum by assisting with the physical assembly of the project.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Concrete & Formwork: Build, set, and strip forms for structural concrete pours. Install anchor bolts, rebar, and water stops according to plan specifications.
- Rough Carpentry: Construct temporary platforms, safety railings, and general framing required for site access and protection.
- Earthwork Support: Assist with hand-digging, fine-grading, and the installation of trench shoring/shielding systems.
- Mechanical & Piping Support: Help move and position process piping; assist with grouting equipment baseplates and installing miscellaneous metals.
- Site Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area; manage material movement and act as a spotter for heavy equipment.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow OSHA and site-specific safety protocols for fall protection, confined spaces, and tool usage.
- Previous experience working within a plant, refinery, or heavy civil construction environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with circular saws, miter saws, drills, levels, and laser levels is preferred.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and production.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening/physical.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work out of town as required by project schedules.
