Duties
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate various dance styles, choreography, and creative arts instruction tailored to different age groups and skill levels
- Lead lively, motivating dance classes that emphasize proper technique, musicality, and performance skills
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively by maintaining a positive environment, encouraging participation, and implementing behavior management strategies
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with diverse learning needs, including early childhood education and special education requirements
- Incorporate elements of theater experience, visual arts, or musical instruments to enrich dance instruction and foster interdisciplinary learning
- Organize and supervise rehearsals for performances or showcases, guiding students through choreography and stage presence
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, or program coordinators to track student progress and provide feedback on development
Experience
- Proven experience working with children and youth programs in arts education or similar settings
- Strong background in teaching dance styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary dance with a focus on choreography and movement techniques
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum content for classroom management and lesson planning purposes
- Experience teaching visual & performing arts or theater enhances instructional versatility
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Familiarity with working with students with special needs or in inclusive settings is preferred
- Additional skills in photography, sewing, cooking, or culinary arts can be an asset for interdisciplinary projects or themed classes
