I have been recruiting technical talent for over 22 years and been in the tech sector since the 1990's. Due to this, I pay as much attention to the social fit as I do the technical fit for roles I work on.
I am volunteering my time for my favorite nonprofit (that is the 'client' I mention in this JD) to assist them in finding someone for this role.
This client is looking for someone to coordinate, develop and execute communication & design initiatives. You will work with the Development and Communications Director to promote this client's mission, work, and programs with clarity and consistency, and generate communications that educate and inspire curiosity about the natural world.
This position is based on site. There is, over time, the ability to work from home in a hybrid model.
Here are some of the primary responsibilities:
Print & Digital Materials:
- Create engaging visuals that support our editorial work and promote programs, events, and partnerships.
- This includes the graphic design and layout of digital assets for social media, website, and email use as well as print materials like event invitations, posters, maps, and signage.
- Manage implementation of yearly editorial/publicity calendar.
- Serve as the point person for basic website updates and edits.
- Manage social media accounts for the firm.
- Gather content, create, and send regular email blasts in Mailchimp.
- Act as primary liaison to print vendors
Brand & Messaging:
- Collaborate with Belwin leadership to develop compelling visuals, a consistent voice, and thematic messaging that spotlights this client's mission and values.
- Share and manage use of Belwin Conservancy style guide & branding materials.
- Design and implement marketing strategies for Belwin’s growing programs
Newsletter Project Lead:
- Manage the twice-yearly publication of this client's newsletter, The Meadowlark.
- Pitch story ideas, gather images, and write and edit copy.
- Package materials and coordinate feedback for freelance graphic designer
General Outreach:
- Create and disseminate press releases to media.
- Manage volunteers on select communications tasks.
- Attend and support Belwin’s major events.
- Participate in organizational work around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Here is what we are seeking:
- A minimum of two years marketing / communication experience.
- Strong graphic design skills; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop).
- Ability to manage multiple duties and priorities.
- Outstanding copywriting/editing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Experience with Mailchimp and WordPress; knowledge of Google Ads, Google Analytics, SEO a plus.
- Commitment to an inclusive workplace culture.
- Interest in conservation or other environmental fields.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working at a nonprofit (If you have worked for a nonprofit, that is great...if not, that is ok as well).
- Experience with photography, videography, video editing, art direction
- Experience with Google drive, Google docs, and Google sheets
Salary : $48,000 - $52,000
