What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright Mechanic position at RP Skilled Services?
We are ramping up for a large project for a client. We will need a team of strong Millwrights, please do not call as we do not have a confirmed start date yet we are reaching out to prepare for future jobs we have coming. We will call once we have a date to start.
This will be for Reciprocating Compressors, Rotating Equipment and Turbines at Refineries, Chemical Plants and other sites.
Duties consist of:
- Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
- Align machines and equipment, using jacks, hand tools, hoist, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
- Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
- Using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures
- Measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts
- Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
- Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools
- Assemble machines, and bolt, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools
- Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill
- Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly unit
- Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit
- Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
- Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of team
- Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power)
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge
- Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair equipment
- Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers
- Perform duties in a work environment that will be hot, cold, dirty and fast-paced
- Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed
- Above all remain professional at all times

Must have TWIC Card, OSHA 10, Basic Plus and active status in DISA.
