Primary Purpose:
Provide supervision and support for students assigned to in-school suspension in a structured environment that promotes appropriate behavior, academic progress, and student accountability.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning preferred
Valid Texas educational aide certificate or will obtain
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of student supervision and behavior management practices
Ability to maintain a structured, orderly, and safe environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators
Ability to follow campus and district procedures
Basic computer and recordkeeping skills
Experience:
Experience working with school-age children preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension throughout the school day
- Maintain a structured environment that supports student safety, appropriate conduct, and academic engagement
- Ensure students follow campus expectations, assigned schedules, and program rules
- Monitor and support completion of classroom assignments provided by teachers
- Communicate with teachers and campus staff to obtain student assignments and instructional materials
- Document student attendance, behavior, and assignment completion accurately
- Report student behavior concerns and unusual incidents promptly to campus administration
- Use appropriate behavior intervention and de-escalation strategies when needed
- Monitor student movement to and from the in-school suspension setting in accordance with campus procedures
- Assist with supervising lunch, restroom breaks, and other transitions as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality of student records, behavior information, and disciplinary matters
- Model professionalism, dependability, and appropriate conduct at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee

- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Perform duties as required by federal guidelines.
