What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Site Coordinator - West Cabarrus position at Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA?
General Function:
Under the supervision and guidance of the of the Youth Development Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Sports Official / Site Coordinator is responsible for the enforcement of official league rules and philosophies during all scheduled youth sports games.
Know How:
Incumbent must pass YMCA background checks and successfully complete and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to acquire them within 30 days of employment. Incumbent must have strong public relations, organizational and interpersonal skills; strong desire and ability to work with children; ability to resolve conflict situations; basic understanding of basketball, soccer, flag football and volleyball rules, and a minimum of
1-year experience working with sports, preferably with children.

Job Segments:
- PRIOR TO THE GAME: Inspect program sites & sports equipment to ensure it meets YMCA safety standards
- DURING THE GAMES: Signal the start and end of the game; Officiate the game; Explain and enforce rules - ensure fair play persists by discouraging unacceptable behavior; Maintain the Safety of Players, Spectators and other YMCA staff; and Keep an eye on site surroundings and determine whether the conditions are suitable for the game to continue.
- END OF GAME: Check scores/other record keeping.
- In conjunction with the Youth Development Director, assist with the implementation, development and monitoring of all sports leagues, camps, and clinics.
- Monitor and maintain proper field and facility conditions and pre-game field and facility preparations.
- Promote YMCA character development and mission in all programs.
- Follow all Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA Safety and Child Abuse Prevention guidelines at all times.

The effectiveness of the incumbent can be measured by:
- The satisfaction levels of participants, parents, and coaches
- Effective communication between all parties involved in the program.
- Viewed by all involved as being helpful and supportive.
- Fair and accurate officiating of games.
- Effectiveness will also be measured by the extent of which the incumbent is a supportive staff member achieving the overall goals of the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA association.
