Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead diverse recreational activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and safety during participation
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic programs that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement
- Collaborate with care staff to develop personalized activity plans for residents with memory care or disabilities
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely delivery of programs while accommodating individual preferences
- Support residents in maintaining their independence through tailored recreational therapy sessions
- Document participation, progress, and feedback to continually enhance activity offerings and resident satisfaction
Skills
- Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments
- Experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes, especially with Alzheimer’s or dementia care
- Knowledge of memory care techniques and best practices for engaging individuals with cognitive impairments
- Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs such as mobility, dressing, and personal hygiene during activities
- Proven ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing needs or emergencies
- Compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on aging issues counseling and social work principles
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings enhances your effectiveness in this role
