Summary
The Resident Artist designs and facilitates engaging visual art experiences for patients and caregivers across inpatient, outpatient, and small group settings. This role plays an integral part in enhancing quality of life through creative expression in a healthcare environment.
As a member of the Creative Arts Team, a studio-based arts-in-healthcare program funded by the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Quality of Life Program, the Resident Artist collaborates with multidisciplinary staff to deliver meaningful, patient-centered programming.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead visual art activities tailored to diverse patient and caregiver populations
Facilitate individual and group art sessions in clinical and non-clinical settings
Adapt programming to meet varying physical, emotional, and cognitive needs
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive creative environment
Collaborate with healthcare staff and fellow Creative Arts Team members
Hourly range is $26.94 to $34.23
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in fine arts, visual art, studio art, music or other appropriate field; or
- Associate's degree in fine arts, visual art, studio art, music or other appropriate field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience as a studio artist or related experience.
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Studio art background or degree in Fine Art (BFA or MFA). Please include a portfolio, website, or writeups, if applicable
- Demonstrated experience leading arts activities in a group setting (for example: workshops, demonstrations, “paint nights”)
- Experience in a clinical healthcare, customer service, or art education environment
- Proficiency with Adobe software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
