Summary:
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC), an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY, invites applications for faculty positions for a leadership position in the Genitourinary Medical Oncology Department and as a contributing member of the Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC).
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the nation’s first cancer center founded in 1898, has made fundamental contributions to reducing the burden of cancer and has successfully maintained a leadership role in setting national standards for cancer care, research, and education. This multi-disciplinary research environment provides opportunities to interact with scientists and clinicians from numerous programs and departments, and the ability to conduct patient-oriented translational research in collaboration with clinicians. Roswell Park faculty have access to shared resources enabling application of state-of-the-art technology and unique clinical specimens to their research.
The idea candidate would be at the Associate or Professor level. They would oversee all aspects of Genitourinary (GU) Medical Oncology including recruitment and supervision of service attendings, develop clinical pathways, and collaborate with GU Surgery and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Clinical Chief in Genitourinary (GU) Medical Oncology will set the clinical and scientific strategic goals for the Division with an emphasis in Clinical research to enhance accrual of GU oncology patients to clinical trials and increase overall market share.
There is the possibility of an Endowed Chair awarded to the successful candidate.
As an active member of the GU-ORC, they will assist in carrying out the center’s mission, which is to foster highly collaborative research that accelerates the understanding of GU cancers and their treatment and to foster close and productive interactions between practicing physicians, laboratory scientists, other units of Roswell Park and other institutions to enhance the overall volume and scientific quality of translational research.
GU-ORC currently consists of more than 30 faculty with multidisciplinary interests in studying the cellular, genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, immunologic, ancestral, and behavioral factors underlying GU cancer development, progression, and therapy resistance.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
License or Certification Requirement
Medical Doctor degree and prior full-time experience in the field of Medical Oncology or a specialty of Hematologic Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Solid Tumor/Investigational Therapeutics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
Note:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred but not required: Proven track record of NIH funding and publication in high impact journals. Strong consideration will be given to a physician scientist with lab research and current, transferable funding. Outside of this preference, we are seeking a candidate with a history of investigator-initiated clinical research and funding
Preferred but not required: Experience with immunotherapy, ability to develop new treatments and to promote Roswell Park’s national and international visibility in this area

- Successful track record in leadership.
- Proven track record of NIH funding and publication in high impact journals. Strong consideration will be given to a physician scientist with lab research and current, transferable funding.
