What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sous Chef position at Rossitto's Ristorante?
We're a growing Italian restaurant in Branford, CTlooking for a Sous Chef with experience preparing Italian cuisine. We're looking for a creative individual who is willing to participate in creating menu specials and designing new dishes. They will work closely with and report to the Head Chef.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
Prepare high-quality food items to order for our patrons.
Follow recipes and prepare dishes to meet (or exceed) guests' expectations.
- Experienced in grilling, frying, sautéing, baking, and working with shellfish.
- Keeps cooking stations stocked.
- Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions.
Coordinate food orders to support timely and efficient delivery to each table.
Ensure the proper food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times
- Meet the requests of special guest requests while ensuring same high-quality standards.
- Complete kitchen tasks such as line setup, food preparation, cleanup, and breakdown.
- Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas in order to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in food service required.
- Must be a team player and work effectively with all co-workers.
Present a professional appearance.
Maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be organized and able to multitask.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule. (Must be available evenings, weekends, and some holidays.)
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
