Position Overview
Rossford Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher to support our preschool program at Rossford Elementary School. The successful candidate will provide a high-quality early learning experience that supports children’s academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth while maintaining continuity within the preschool classroom environment.
The Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher will plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards, maintain a safe and engaging learning environment, collaborate with preschool staff and families, and support compliance with preschool program expectations, including Step Up To Quality and applicable licensing requirements.
Qualifications
- Must hold an appropriate valid Ohio license or credential required to serve as a preschool teacher in Ohio
- Knowledge of early childhood best practices and developmentally appropriate instruction preferred
- Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with preschool staff, related service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and administrators
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Must meet all district employment requirements, including successful completion of required background checks
Responsibilities
- Serve as the classroom teacher in the preschool general education setting during the duration of the assignment
- Implement lesson plans and provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive classroom environment
- Support student learning, behavior, and developmental growth
- Collaborate with preschool staff and administration to support student success and program continuity
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by administration
Daily Pay Rates (Certified Substitutes)
Daily rates increase based on days worked within the same school year:
- Days 1–30: $125 per day
- Days 31–60: $140 per day
- Day 61 and beyond: $220 per day
Please note: The count of days worked resets at the beginning of each school year for pay rate purposes.
Reimbursement Opportunity (Certified Substitutes)
Certified substitutes who complete five (5) days of work during the school year are eligible for reimbursement of:
- BCI/FBI Background Check: Up to $80
- Substitute Teaching License: $25
Substitutes must initiate the reimbursement process directly.
In accordance with State law, the Rossford Board of Education requires a criminal background check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) records for each applicant the Superintendent recommends for employment.
