Summary:
The Associate Director of Admissions plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school by supporting the Director of Enrollment Management in admissions, marketing, recruitment, and enrollment. This position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports the success of all students. International and domestic travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the enrollment process from initial inquiry to final enrollment.
- Oversee the admissions process to ensure a seamless experience for prospective students.
- Communicate effectively with prospective students and referral sources.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of applicants.
- Represent the School both on campus and off in the role of an Admissions Officer.
- Collaborate with academic departments to understand program offerings and align recruitment efforts accordingly.
- Participate in the Trusted Partner program by visiting and communicating with recruitment partners.
- Conduct tours and open houses at the Upper and/or Lower School campuses.
- Educate prospective students and their families about admission requirements, financial aid options, and academic programs.
- Travel to recruit students internationally and domestically.
- Utilize Blackbaud software for managing admissions data and reporting.
- Maintain relationships with schools, community colleges, and other educational institutions to enhance outreach efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in education recruitment or related fields is preferred.
- Proven track record in recruiting students and working effectively with an admissions team.
- Strong experience in academic advising with a focus on student engagement.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud, Financial Edge, or similar student information systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively, are required.
- Experience working directly with students from various backgrounds to support their educational goals.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily, accept assigned duties, and make responsible decisions when required.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, information technology or systems, education, or another appropriate field.
- One to three years of experience in an independent boarding school, higher education admission setting, or related sales and marketing experience is preferred.
- Outstanding oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
- A clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of Ross School.
- Knowledge of and ability to use relevant tools for communication and reporting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and frequent deadlines.
- Outstanding technical skills; proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Google Workspace, and databases is required.
- Weekend and evening work required; frequent travel required.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Russian, German, or Portuguese is preferred.
- Ability to move from one physical space to another throughout the course of the day, as well as attend off-site meetings.
- Ability to read, analyze, develop, and interpret documents in English.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment.
