Work Year/Hours:        5 Days per Week/12 months/8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

 

Start Date:                  Immediately

 

Salary:                        $24.00 to $26.88 in six (6) steps

                                      Additional Stipend:  $.50 associate degree

                                                                    $1.00 bachelor’s degree  

                                                                    $1.50 master’s degree

 

 

 

NOTE: Candidates must pass or have passed a typing test, an accounting test, general clerical test including basic math, basic word, excel (or have demonstrated the ability).

JOB FUNCTION:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Administrator and in partnership with another Payroll Administrative Assistant, the Payroll Administrative Assistant is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, reporting, and compliance. This position ensures that all district employees — including hourly, salaried, exempt, non-exempt, and contractual staff — are paid accurately and on schedule in accordance with district policies, collective bargaining agreements, and federal and state regulations.

 

The Payroll Administrative Assistant maintains accurate payroll and benefits records, oversees retirement reporting, supports annual audits, and delivers exceptional customer service to employees and administrators. The role requires initiative, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to follow instructions and effectively manage routine tasks, and the flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Minimum associate degree preferred with a focus on Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent job experience in School Business Office Payroll functions. 
  2. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  3. Knowledge and competence in the use of computers, Microsoft applications including Word and Excel; willingness to upgrade skills, as necessary.
  4. Ability to perform professional accounting/bookkeeping tasks with a minimum of supervision.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain accurate files and records as required or in a manner consistent with various audit requirements where necessary.
  6. Ability to prepare and submit complex fiscal reports to various governmental agencies in a timely manner.
  7. Payroll experience is preferred.
  8. Possess strong math skills.
  9. Ability to follow complex oral and written directions.
  10. Ability to meet the public and to develop and maintain positive working relationships with office co-workers, professional and non-professional staff and all units of the school district.
  11. Exhibit a high degree of initiative.
  12. Record of excellent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
  13. Such other qualifications may be determined.
