BILLING SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION
Billing Specialists is responsible for overseeing the billing from our company to the client’s individual insurance providers.
These duties and responsibilities often include:
- Collaborating with other departments on appropriate practices to maintain clean claim.
- Creating reports of the business statistics to the management team to inform and support good business practices.
- Research appropriate coding strategies for new services and keep up with the code or modifier changes to present coding charges.
- Must be able to use all Medicaid insurance Providers websites to research or pull payment EOBs.
- Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation, patience and empathy.
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of industry best practices.
- Organization, time management and prioritization abilities.
- Ability to be discreet and maintain the security of patient or customer information.
- Research any paid claims not consistent with original claims or the Medicaid fee schedule to make any corrections or appeal for appropriate adjustments by insurance providers.
- Research any denied claim and make corrections or appeal accordingly.
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Responsible for retrieving missing information, and accurately preparing and billing for assigned charges daily.
- Update patient benefit, demographic and insurance information as needed.
- Keep up to date on guidelines with HIPPA , other compliance, and medical coding billing practices.
- Responsible for following up on unpaid, denied or rejected claims.
- Efficient computer skills to input data, make corrections and utilize multiple screens.
Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of electronic billing system
Knowledge of insurance collections or claims follow-up preferred
Experience in Excel
Experience in Google My Drive
Experience:
One (1) year active experience in insurance billing. (Preferred)
Experience in Behavioral Health Practice. (Preferred)
Education:
Medical Coding and Billing Training (Preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
