What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cable Assembly Technician position at Rosenberger North America?
Rosenberger North America is looking for an entry level, highly energetic team player to join our Glassing department as a Cable Assembly Technician.
The Cable Assembly Technician supports the production department by assembling, inspecting, and testing coaxial cable assemblies (specifically, the “Jumper” cable line) and connectors with an emphasis on critical processes for product acceptance.
Note: The cable line we are utilizing for assembly is new, therefore until job orders increase, this position will also be assisting with other various tasks in the Glassing area.
Rosenberger North America is a precision machining center located in Pennsauken, New Jersey. We are a climate controlled AS9100 facility.
This position reports to the Glassing Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Read and follow assembly and work instructions.
- Become proficient in all assembly and special processes as required.
- Gather and record data accurately.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Machine or equipment setup may be required.
- Must be capable of troubleshooting workmanship errors.
- Assist in the production startup process.
- Basic understanding of geometric tolerances.
- Willingness to train other employees on how to perform job tasks.
- Must understand product specifications and identify critical requirements.
- Perform visual and mechanical inspections to identify quality defects.
- Basic operation of network analyzers, continuity testers, and other test equipment.
- Use of precise measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to make and record measurements.
- Monitor the safety of the work area and the functionality of assembly equipment and promptly report any problems to the Supervisor.
- Perform hand assembly operations using mechanical presses, hand tools, and heat guns.
- Legibly record measurements and quality data on work order travelers and forms.
- Assemble small parts per Mil specs and industry specifications.
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or other Management personnel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Basic computer skills (used to log time, retrieve documents, and enter data)
- Excellent tactile proficiency with small components
- Ability to understand assembly drawings, simple math, and tolerances
- Ability to maintain consistently high quality while performing repetitive operations
- Accurate and detail oriented
- Ability to work closely with process and applications engineers to determine manufacturability and consistency of newly introduced products or samples
- Quality conscious
- Ability to clearly distinguish colors as established by the Ishihara color blindness test
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of Manufacturing experience preferred.
