Role Description Well-established Garden City law firm looking for an in-person full-time legal secretary to join our team. The firm handles high profile and complex matters with an emphasis on commercial litigation in both federal and state courts. Candidates should have substantial litigation experience, preferably assisting commercial litigation partners and associates with a broad range of legal secretarial tasks; dictation skills (tape/transcription) preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; should be fully familiar and comfortable working with a broad range of litigation documents and processes, including electronic filing (NYSCEF & ECF) and litigation calendar control. Qualifications
- Strong foundation in law-related support functions, including familiarity with legal terminology and legal office procedures.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, revising, and proofreading pleadings, motions, correspondence, and agreements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, courts, and external parties.
- Demonstrated administrative assistance capabilities, including calendar management, scheduling, record keeping, and handling confidential information.
- Effective organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate files, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Proficiency with common office and legal software (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management systems; experience with litigation support tools is a plus).
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal department preferred; experience supporting litigation or complex commercial matters is beneficial.
- High attention to detail, strong time management skills, and a commitment to professionalism and client service.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and legal administrative experience.
