What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Manager - Public Accounting position at Rosen, Weissman, Gerardo & Coberly CPAs LLC?
Job Overview
Are you a high-performing tax professional ready to elevate your career and step into a leadership role? We are a dynamic, growing CPA firm seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our team.
This unique role is designed for a sharp professional who loves the strategy of tax preparation but is ready to own a leadership seat. You will enjoy a perfect balance: spending about half your time managing client relationships and preparing high-level returns, and the other half reviewing the work of our senior accountants and staff, serving as a mentor to help them grow. If you have a strong grasp of tax compliance, a passion for client advisory, and a desire to lead, this is the perfect next step for your career.
What You’ll Do:
Client Advisory & High-Level Preparation:
- Manage & Prepare: Prepare complex federal, state, and local tax returns (1120S, 1065, 1120, 1040) for a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional service and clear communication regarding their tax situations.
- Strategic Planning: Deliver proactive tax planning advice and financial insights to help clients achieve their business goals.
- Financial Oversight: Utilize QuickBooks to oversee financial statement preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
Review, Leadership & Mentorship:
- Review: Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns prepared by senior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Team Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource and mentor for staff members, fostering their professional growth and sharing best practices.
- Workflow Coordination: Collaborate with leadership to manage tax season deadlines, extensions, and team capacity.
- Stay Ahead: Keep your finger on the pulse of changing tax legislation and help implement necessary adjustments to our firm's procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or EA (Enrolled Agent) license is required.
- Technical Expertise: Strong experience with 1120S, 1065, 1120, and 1040 tax returns, as well as financial statement preparation.
- Software Savvy: Proficiency in QuickBooks and modern tax preparation/accounting software. Drake Tax software is preferred but not required.
- The "Step-Up" Mindset: Extensive experience in tax preparation and a proven readiness (or prior experience) to review the work of others and mentor a team.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients in plain English.
- Detail-Oriented & Driven: Strong analytical skills, rock-solid accuracy, and the ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly with a team.
