What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Manager (Business Advisory) - Remote position at Action Accounting?
Are you tired of spending busy season cranking out returns without having the opportunity to truly help your clients?
At Action Accounting & Advisory, we believe accountants should be trusted advisors—not just tax preparers.
We're a growing, advisory-focused accounting firm based in the Tampa Bay area, helping entrepreneurs and business owners reduce taxes, improve profitability, and build more valuable businesses. We combine tax planning, bookkeeping, accounting, and business advisory into one proactive client experience.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager who enjoys solving complex tax issues, building client relationships, mentoring others, and identifying opportunities that make a real difference for clients.
If you're looking for a firm where your ideas matter, technology is embraced, and your career can continue to grow, we'd love to meet you.
This isn't a position where you'll simply prepare tax returns and move on to the next one.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Advise business owners throughout the year—not just during tax season.
- Identify proactive tax-saving strategies.
- Help shape and improve firm processes.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Work with modern technology and AI tools that help you work smarter.
- Be part of a collaborative leadership team that's focused on continuous improvement.
This is a fully remote position. While our firm is based in the Tampa Bay area, we welcome qualified candidates who are authorized to work in the United States.
- Prepare and review Individual (Form 1040), Partnership (Form 1065), S Corporation (Form 1120-S), and Corporate (Form 1120) tax returns.
- Review staff-prepared returns and provide coaching and constructive feedback.
- Meet with clients regarding tax planning, compliance, and year-round tax strategies.
- Identify proactive tax-saving opportunities for business owners.
- Research complex federal and state tax issues.
- Prepare tax projections and planning recommendations.
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices on behalf of clients.
- Obtain and maintain IRS Powers of Attorney (Form 2848) when needed and communicate directly with the IRS to resolve client matters.
- Work closely with our bookkeeping and advisory teams to deliver exceptional client service.
- Improve internal processes and workflows that increase efficiency and consistency.
- Utilize AI and technology to improve productivity and enhance the client experience.
- Mentor junior staff members and contribute to a positive team culture.
We're looking for someone who sees themselves as more than a tax preparer.
You enjoy solving problems, building relationships, continuously learning, and helping business owners succeed.
- 5 years of public accounting tax experience.
- Strong experience preparing business tax returns.
- Experience reviewing tax returns prepared by others.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA).
- Experience with Intuit ProConnect Tax.
- Tax planning experience.
- Experience mentoring or supervising staff.
- Comfortable representing clients before the IRS and resolving tax notices.
Within your first year, you'll:
- Become a trusted advisor to your clients.
- Build lasting relationships with business owners.
- Help improve and streamline our tax department.
- Mentor less experienced team members.
- Contribute to the continued growth of our advisory practice.
- Play an important role in helping build one of the premier advisory-focused accounting firms in the Tampa Bay area.
- Salary: $80,000–$120,000, based on experience.
- Performance bonus opportunities.
- Paid Time Off.

- Continuing Education and Professional Development.
- Professional license and continuing education reimbursement.
