Position Overview
We are seeking an on-site experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team in downtown Charleston. The ideal candidate will support multiple attorneys throughout all phases of litigation with the primary focus on Construction Law & Litigation, Employment & Labor Law, Real Estate Litigation, and Business and Commercial Litigation.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with clients, experts, courts, and opposing counsel as needed, and helps ensure that cases move forward efficiently and in compliance with procedural rules
- Communicating with potential new clients including gathering relevant party and factual information
- Maintaining case calendars, tracking deadlines and court schedules
- Assist with case preparation, trial preparation, and trial support
- Document review, including managing discovery, analyzing records, and assisting with document production
- Coordinating depositions, hearings, mediations & other case related matters
- Prepare, organize, and maintain case files and legal documents
- Prepare and coordinate filings through e-filing system
- Conduct legal and factual research as directed by attorneys
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, including complaints, answers, and other court submissions.
- Draft motions, including assembling exhibits and ensuring compliance with court rules
- Mechanic’s Lien preparations & filing
- Property & title research
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of litigation experience
- Familiarity with South Carolina court procedures and filing requirements
- Familiarity state and federal court rules
- Experience with e-discovery and related programs is a plus
- Appellate experience is a plus
- Paralegal Certificate is a plus
- Experience with Construction Law & Litigation is a plus
