What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Paralegal position at O'Reilly Law Firm?
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys in all stages of litigation matters. This candidate should feel comfortable conducting research, doing data entry, scheduling, maintaining case files, communicating with clients and opposing counsel, and completing other ad-hoc requests, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Fact and basic legal research.
- Assist with case management and file organization.
- Assume primary responsibility for discovery deadline calendaring and followup.
- Drafting of pleadings and written discovery.
- Maintain and frequently review litigation calendar to ensure compliance with case deadlines.
- Organize and electronically file pleadings.
- Coordinate and schedule calendars.
- Maintain timely communication with clients and opposing counsel throughout the course of the case.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal in a civil litigation practice.
• Experience with discovery, deposition coordination, drafting and service of pleadings, and other aspects of litigation is strongly encouraged.
• Requires strong computer skills, with 50 words per minute and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat and other similar software.
• Good professional interpersonal & communication skills; communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys and other professionals.
•Good analytical skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Good at taking directions and following through until completion of assignment.
Anticipated annual starting salary range for position will be $45,000--$60,000, depending on applicant's qualifications and level of experience. Other benefits include law firm-paid parking and employer-sponsored 401(k) plan with employer matching.
