What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at Roselyn North Academy?
Roselyn North Academy is expanding, and we’re excited to add new team members to our Freeport location.
We are seeking Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Floaters to support classrooms ranging from infants through Pre-K. Our classrooms are welcoming, collaborative, and centered on strong relationships with children and families. Compensation
- $18–$23 per hour, depending on experience and Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) level
- Monthly wage supplement of up to $540 based on MRTQ level, in addition to hourly pay
- Many team members earn above their base rate through participation in the stipend program

Key Responsibilities
- Foster strong, supportive relationships with children and their families
- Help implement engaging, play-based learning experiences
- Work collaboratively with fellow educators
- Create a classroom environment where children feel safe, confident, and inspired
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming space
- Communicate regularly with families using Brightwheel
- Follow all licensing regulations and safety protocols
Lead Teachers will also take the lead on curriculum planning and classroom management.
Floaters support multiple classrooms, providing flexibility and gaining experience across age groups.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Prior experience working with children preferred (training provided for the right candidate)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, positive, and child-centered approach
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
