What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Educator position at Roselyn North Academy of Freeport?
We’re seeking caring, energetic, and dedicated Early Childhood Teachers to join our team in Freeport, supporting classrooms from Yearlings through Toddlers. In this role, you’ll help create a warm, engaging environment where young children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn.
You’ll play a key role in providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences, building strong relationships with children and families, and supporting each child’s growth in meaningful, individualized ways.
What You’ll Do
Classroom Collaboration
- Partner with lead teachers to support daily routines and learning activities.
- Assist with preparing materials and setting up the classroom for the day.
- Contribute to planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
- Use Procare to share timely updates with families.
Engaging with Children
- Build trusting, nurturing relationships through consistent and positive interactions.
- Participate in play, exploration, and hands-on learning to support all developmental areas.
- Provide individualized support during one-on-one and small-group activities.
- Encourage respect for peers, materials, and the classroom community.
Positive Behavior Support
- Reinforce classroom expectations using clear, consistent strategies.
- Help children navigate conflict with empathy, patience, and problem-solving.
- Communicate regularly with the lead teacher about behavior, progress, and celebrations.
- Model kindness, cooperation, and emotional regulation.
Health & Safety
- Supervise children closely throughout the day—in the classroom, during transitions, and outdoors.
- Follow all licensing standards and safety protocols.
- Maintain a healthy, hazard-free environment.
- Uphold required staff-to-child ratios.
- Be prepared to respond in emergencies; CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
Team Communication
- Maintain open communication with lead teachers and team members to support daily plans and long-term goals.
- Build strong partnerships with families by sharing milestones, insights, and updates.
- Use child-friendly language that supports curiosity, emotional expression, and conversation.
- Participate actively in team discussions, trainings, and professional development.
- Collaborate to solve challenges with a child-centered mindset.
What You Bring
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with toddlers or young children in a group setting.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices in early learning.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
- A love for children, a sense of humor, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
