Kansas City, MO. Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Domestic Violence Advocate – Hospital Advocacy.

The Domestic Violence Advocate (internal classification: Bridge Coordinator) provides direct advocacy and safety planning services to victims of domestic violence in clinical and hospital settings while coordinating with hospitals and service areas to create an environment supportive of reaching victims of domestic violence.

The position promotes awareness and utilization of the Bridge Program through training, marketing, and public speaking; contributes to hospital and clinic policy development; provides task force leadership; coordinates service delivery; and assists with after-hours advocacy and training.

  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care and accessibility. Demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.
  • Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
  • Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.
  • Participate in all required trainings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • One year or more experience working in a hospital/healthcare environment, providing inclusive services to a diverse client group including at-risk populations, or commensurate.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks while remaining flexible to changing needs.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems, and other software.
  • Due to specific hospital requirements, candidate must be able to provide proof of immunizations or be able to obtain blood test to verify immunization; must receive annual flu vaccine.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.

Preferred

  • Experience providing domestic violence advocacy.
  • Experience in public health preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work/human services, or a related field or commensurate; courses or classwork related to human services, social work, etc. is preferred and not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

Hours

This is a full-time, exempt position averaging 40 hours per week. The position is primarily scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours but requires flexibility to work occasional evenings to accommodate participant schedules and attend meetings or other program-related activities. The position also assists with after-hours advocacy and training as needed. This position requires the ability to share a workspace/office environment with others. The Bridge Coordinator works in office, hospital, and clinic settings and requires limited local travel.

Compensation And Benefits

This position falls into a salary range starting at $48,000 annually (exempt) and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
