The Role
Our growing Dallas-based DME business is seeking a compassionate and technically skilled Certified Orthotist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will evaluate patients, design, fabricate, and fit custom orthotic devices (such as braces, splints, and cranial remolding orthoses) to improve patient mobility, stability, and quality of life. As a key provider, you will work closely with local physicians, physical therapists, and patients to develop individualized care plans, ensuring superior patient outcomes in accordance with Texas licensure regulations. This is a flexible, "on-call" style position perfect for an orthotist looking for supplemental income or a flexible schedule.
Job Title: Location: Lewisville, TX (In-office & Local Patient Travel)
Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour (Based on experience). Per job payment options will be considered.

What You’ll Do
- Patient Evaluation & Assessment: Evaluate patient needs through clinical assessment, gait analysis, and range of motion tests, while reviewing physician prescriptions.
- Custom Fabrication & Design: Measure, take impressions (casting/scanning), and fabricate orthotic devices, including spinal, cranial, and limb braces, using hands-on skills or supervising technicians.
- Fitting & Adjustment: Fit, test, and adjust devices for maximum functionality, comfort, and safety, ensuring proper alignment.
- Patient Education: Instruct patients and caregivers on the proper use, maintenance, and care of their orthotic devices.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records, documentation, and care notes in compliance with HIPAA and Medicare regulations.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and internal staff to deliver comprehensive care and resolve patient issues.
- Inventory Management: Manage custom product inventory and assist in securing necessary authorizations or pre-certifications, particularly for workers' compensation cases.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Board certification (CO or CPO) from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) required.
- Licensure: Active Orthotist or Prosthetist license in the state of Texas (or ability to obtain).
- Education: Master's degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from a CAAHEP-accredited program preferred, or equivalent bachelor's degree with a certificate. Knowledge of current industry advancements and continuing education opportunities
- Experience: 3 years of direct patient care experience as an Orthotist/Prosthetist, including hands-on fabrication experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in hand casting and scanning technology for custom devices, along with strong knowledge of biomechanics.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, empathy, and ability to work with a diverse, often distressed patient population.
- Personal: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local patient visits. Must carry individual Professional Liability Insurance (Malpractice)
