What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist position at Roots Healthcare Services?
Overview
The Rehabilitation Specialist (RS) is responsible for providing the clinical services to the clients of Roots Healthcare Services and ensuring that the client’s emotional and medical needs are met and maintained in accordance with agency policies and procedures, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards, and current federal, state Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The RS also has the responsibility of supervising the direct care workers and ensuring that the clients are receiving the appropriate services as outlined in their Individual Rehabilitation Plans. The RS also assists with providing the necessary training for direct care workers.
Qualifications: The RS must have one to two (1-2) years of supervised social work experience in a health care setting, working directly with individuals. Experience working with people with mental health disorders preferred.
Hiring Requirement: The RS must have a current and valid (in good standing) Maryland certification as a CPRP LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-C, LCPC, or LGPC
Reports To: Clinical Director. The RS’s primary responsibilities are as follows:
Candidate must have at least 2 years of relevant direct service and/or supervisory experience working with children and adults that have mental health issues. Minimum three years’ experience of work with children and adults with mental health diagnosis. Knowledge of COMAR regulations for PRP is mandatory.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete rehabilitation assessments, screenings, developing individualized rehabilitation plans, monitoring/observing the work of counselors..
- Ensuring that the PRP Rehabilitation Counselors are following the Individualized Rehabilitation plan.
- Review admissions paperwork, onsite/offsite group contact notes, progress notes to verify that direct care counselors are effectively addressing the treatment needs and implementing the goals and/or objectives set forth in the Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP).
- Conducting monthly supervision with the counselors.
- Continue care plans, community referrals, monthly summaries, discharges, discharge summaries and present recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting program policies and procedures.
- Participating in group meetings. Educate direct care staff on how to provide rehabilitation services that correlate with the goals identified in the IRP.
- Participating in Rehabilitation Counselor's meeting and training. Develops and assures that rehabilitation services meet the needs of the individuals served by the program;.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
