Billing Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our birth center team. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for both daily claim coding and submission as well as play a key role in revenue cycle management. This position will be a part of a team that also maintains payer relationships, stays abreast of changing payment policy and helps to guide the practice in how to both be compliant and have a smooth payment cycle. The position of billing specialist also carries responsibility for the infrastructure around billing: written procedures, a maintained inventory of payer contracts and their terms, a patient financial experience that is clear and compassionate.

Roots bills both professional and facility claims and utilizes Athena as our primary EHR/Practice Management as well as an accessory software for documentation.

This position can be up to 75% remote and minimum of 25% in person in the office. We value a cohesive staff as well as understand that billing operations need a boots on the ground sort of person.

Must have billing and coding experience and a passion for birth center and midwifery care.

Duties

• Code and submit claims
• Work claims for timely and complete payment
• Provide practice and team guidance for compliant coding and charting.
• Manage and maintain payer contracts
• Maintain awareness of the birth center billing policy landscape
• Work closely with birth center leadership to maintain smooth billing and clinical systems
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling customer inquiries professionally and providing excellent service.

Pay: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
