Licensed Massage Therapist — Rooted Balance

Requirements
• Valid Indiana Massage Therapy License
• Active liability insurance
• St. Joseph County permit (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to plan ahead
• Ability to manage personal schedule, workload, and daily flow with a high level of self‑management
• Commitment to maintaining accurate client notes, especially for medical and sports massage clients
• High standards of cleanliness, ethical practice, and professional conduct
• Adherence to all sanitation and safety protocols

Compensation & Structure
• Semi‑monthly pay (1st and 16th of each month)
• Paid per appointment, plus credit card gratuities
• Therapists keep 100% of cash tips daily
• Position is 1099 independent contractor• Contractors are responsible for their own federal and state taxes
• In‑house tax guidance and resources available if needed
• Tiered pay scale: therapists begin at a starting rate, with opportunities for a quick raise as additional responsibilities are learned (such as client checkout and independent opening/closing).
• Part‑time or full‑time opportunities
• New therapists typically build a consistent schedule within 1–2 months

Dress Code
• Flexible, professional, and movement‑friendly attire
• No color requirements
• Scrubs, activewear, and other solid‑color or minimal‑logo clothing are welcome
• One Rooted Balance work shirt provided at no cost
• Additional branded shirts available at a discounted rate
• Clothing must be non‑offensive and not distracting to clients
No‑Show & Late Cancellation Policy
• Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a late‑cancel fee
• Therapists are still compensated for these appointments
Preferred Skills
• Experience with medical massage, sports massage, or chronic pain clients. Newly graduated/licensef therapists are still welcome and would be provided in-house guidance, review, training and support. As long as there’s a dedication to learning and honing skills.
• Knowledge and interest in anatomy, movement and current pain management research is preferred.
• Interest in holistic wellness, clean‑ingredient products, or integrative care
• Strong organizational habits and reliable time management
• Comfort with digital scheduling and note‑keeping systems
• Strong back-of-house and front-of-house communication skills and customer service experience.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform massage services for extended periods
• Ability to lift, bend, and move equipment as needed
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Ability to use the stairs up and down throughout shit. Although we are working on moving into a single story building soon, our current location is located on two levels, with most of our treatment rooms being down a flight of stairs.
