Duties
- Facilitate the credentialing and maintenance of credentialing for providers including through CAQH profiles, Medicare, MaineCare, and commercial insurers.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts, ensuring timely resolution.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to update and maintain accurate patient records and billing information.
- Communicate with insurance companies to clarify claim statuses, resolve discrepancies, and expedite reimbursements.
- Stay current with evolving coding standards, insurance policies, and compliance regulations to optimize billing accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, credentialing, or related roles within a healthcare setting, preferably mental health.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and claim processing.
- Experience in medical collection processes and handling insurance claims from submission to resolution.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff.
