Accounting Assistant-Part Time, Non-Exempt
Ronald McDonald House New England provides a comprehensive and supportive network of resources to children and their families through Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles. Together, we can build greater capacity to serve children facing all pediatric illnesses at Boston’s and Rhode Island’s hospitals and other medical facilities throughout New England.
This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounting processes, and helping ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and committed to supporting the mission of providing comfort, care, and a "home away from home" for families with critically ill children.
Reports To:
Director Of Finance
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Prepare, update, and maintain required monthly journal entries.
· Scan, log, and organize all incoming checks for timely processing.
· Communicate with the Office Manager regarding incoming accounts receivable items and required accounting entries.
· Assist with annual financial filings and reporting in coordination with Labyrinth.
· Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process by providing accurate financial information and analysis.
· Collaborate with leadership to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and implement best practices.
· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as nonprofit accounting standards.
· Maintain accurate vendor records, including cataloging, filing, and entering W-9 and 1099 information.
· Maintain organized financial files and documentation.
· Assist with special projects and perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
· Two or more years of accounting, bookkeeping, or nonprofit finance experience (preferred)
· Working knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
· Experience with general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and accounts receivable processes.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
· Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff across the organization.
· Ability to manage confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to move and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The employee must be able to move up to 30 pounds. Employee must be comfortable communicating in a variety of written and verbal settings including (but not limited to) answering phones, public speaking, facilitating meetings, making cold calls, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions, Compensation, & Benefits:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position scheduled for 25 hours per week. The hourly pay range is $28.00–$32.00, based on experience. Employees in this position are eligible to accrue paid time off (PTO) in accordance with Ronald McDonald House New England policy. The position is onsite and based in Providence, RI. Employment is at will, which means that either Ronald McDonald House New England or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.
