At Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central Pennsylvania, we provide comfort, care, and support to families with children receiving medical treatment. As a Family Services Manager (FSM), you’ll play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming environment for our guest families while keeping daily operations running smoothly. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every shift by ensuring families feel supported during some of their most challenging times.
What You’ll Do
- Be the point of support: Oversee on-site operations of the Ronald McDonald House or Ronald McDonald House Family Room when senior staff are not present
- Support families and volunteers: Welcome families, guide volunteers, and assist with guest service tasks when needed
- Create a positive experience: Handle room assignments, check-ins/outs, referrals, sign-ins, and day-to-day guest needs with care and compassion
- Provide oversight: Assist with the Ronald McDonald House Hospitality Cart, Ronald McDonald House Family Room operations, tours, and visitor groups
- Respond with calm and confidence: Address emergencies, maintenance issues, or behavior concerns as they arise
- Ensure a safe, tidy space: Complete nightly closing procedures, safety checks, and general cleanliness/housekeeping
- Be part of the team: Help train new volunteers and FSMs, attend meetings, and provide coverage when full-time staff are away
Work Schedule
Minimum requirement: Four weekend shifts per month (rotating holidays assigned annually).
Available RMH shifts:
- Friday: 4pm–12am (2 FSMs)
- Saturday: 8am–4pm (2 FSMs), 4pm–12am (2 FSMs)
- Sunday: 8am–4pm (2 FSMs)
- Weeknights: Sunday-Thursday, 5pm–9pm (1 FSM)
Available RMFR shifts:
- Saturday & Sunday: 11am–4pm
What We’re Looking For
- Experience (volunteer or professional) in family-focused or residential settings preferred
- Strong communication, judgment, and hospitality skills
- Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment
- Basic home maintenance/cleaning skills and ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
- Reliable transportation and (preferred) personal cell phone for emergencies
- Required clearances: PA State Police, PA ChildLine, FBI fingerprinting
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or valid exemption
