Position Summary
The Service Drive Coordinator / Porter plays a critical role in supporting the service department by ensuring efficient vehicle flow, maintaining facility standards, and enhancing the overall customer experience. This position bridges the gap between service advisors, technicians, and customers by assisting with vehicle intake, coordinating workflow, and performing quality control checks.
This role directly supports service efficiency, technician productivity, and customer satisfaction, aligning with Thompsons Auto Group’s mission to deliver an exceptional service experience.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Communication
- Customer Greeting: Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive first impression.
- Drive Support: Assist service advisors with pre-writes, walkarounds, and gathering accurate vehicle information.
- Traffic Management: Direct and organize vehicles in the service drive to maintain efficiency.
- Vehicle Handoff: Assist with vehicle delivery to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience.
Service Flow and Coordination
- Workflow Management: Coordinate vehicle flow between the service drive and shop.
- Work Order Handling: Transfer and manage work orders between advisors and technicians to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Express Lane Support: Monitor and manage express service workflow to reduce bottlenecks.
- Technician Coordination: Help choreograph technician movement to improve efficiency and turnaround time.
- Productivity Focus: Encourage a consistent pace while maintaining quality standards.
Quality Control
- Inspection: Perform final quality checks on vehicles leaving service.
- Verification: Ensure maintenance lights are reset and tire pressures are properly set.
- Cleanliness: Confirm vehicles are free of grease, fingerprints, and debris.
- Standards: Ensure all vehicles meet Thompsons Auto Group’s quality standards prior to delivery.
Porter and Facility Duties
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the service drive, shop, and customer areas.
- Vehicle Washing: Wash vehicles as needed to support delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Vehicle Organization: Stage and organize vehicles for service and delivery.
- Supplies: Monitor and restock operational supplies.
- General Support: Assist with overall facility upkeep.
Team Support and Collaboration
- Teamwork: Work closely with service advisors, technicians, and detailers.
- Efficiency Support: Assist technicians by preparing vehicles and maintaining flow.
- Environment: Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace.
