Position Summary
Rome Health is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing Clerk to join our Revenue Cycle team. This full-time position is responsible for the accurate and timely review, validation, and submission of insurance claims, as well as denial management, account follow-up, and credit balance resolution. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, medical billing experience, and a commitment to maintaining current knowledge of payer requirements and regulatory compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, validate, and submit insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
- Identify, correct, and resubmit rejected or denied claims in a timely manner.
- Review electronic billing system edits and claim errors daily to ensure prompt resolution.
- Conduct routine account follow-up and manage work queues, ticklers, and outstanding balances.
- Perform timely Accounts Receivable follow-up to facilitate reimbursement and reduce aging balances.
- Review and resolve credit balances according to established policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of payer guidelines, billing regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to obtain necessary documentation and resolve billing issues.
- Provide excellent customer service when responding to billing-related inquiries.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous medical billing experience required.
- Experience working with insurance claims, denials, and payer follow-up preferred.
