The Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi is hiring an Administrative Assistant to support the Office of the Chancellor, Office of Vicar for Clergy/Moderator of the Curia, and Office of Vocations.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Areas of Responsibility:

- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modelling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries and provide timely and accurate responses
- Provide clerical support to assigned departments including maintaining accurate records, scheduling meetings, sorting and distributing mail, and preparing correspondence
- Report issues, concerns, complaints to respective department heads in a timely manner keeping them informed of relevant information as appropriate
- Assist departments with maintaining supply inventory and equipment for office operations
- Perform basic accounting tasks including disbursements for expenses
- Provide support for Office of the Chancellor including preparing letters of suitability, coordinating intake of visiting clergy, maintaining Official Catholic Directory information, processing diocesan guest speaker requests, and keeping up with the Morals and Ethics of the Catholic Church
- Provide support for Vicar for Clergy including coordinating meetings for Deans and Presbyteral Council, coordinating priest events and special Masses, and processing deposits for Mass accounts
- Provide support for Office of Vocations including coordinating events, processing seminarian applications, and ordering instructional materials for seminarians
- Perform other duties as assigned
Mental and Physical Demands:
- Occasional local travel
- Lifting of 10 pounds or more
- Prolonged use of office computer, including repetitive hand motions
- Maintain composure under duress
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an administrative position
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license required
- Knowledge of and experience with Diocesan policies and procedures is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with Catholic liturgy and church teaching required

Position Information:
- Reports to Chancellor
- Full-time, Exempt
- Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
