Groundskeeper

Summary

Is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding our facility. Plants flower, mows, pulls weeds, repairs structures, and maintains outside of building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

• Assists in ensuring that the facility grounds and property meet all set standards.
• Assists in ensuring that all irrigation equipment and systems function properly, are properly operated, and are properly maintained.
• Assists in physical installation and maintenance of landscaped areas.
• In addition to initially transporting and planting new vegetation, may be responsible for the transplanting, mulching, fertilizing, and watering of flowering plants, trees, and shrubs, and mowing, weeding trimming, edging, detaching, and watering of lawns.
• Ensures that all parking areas, walkways, sidewalks are free from dirt, and debris.
• Ensures that all litter is removed from trash receptacles, parking areas, lawns, flowerbeds, and any areas exterior to the casino including adjacent fields and roadways.
• Ensures the removal of soil, rubbish, and leaves from the grounds and parking areas.
• Operates equipment such as trimmers, hedgers, mowers, edger, and sweepers.
• Mows, trims and edges lawns; weeds and waters lawns and flow beds; prunes trees and shrubs; plants and transplants trees, shrubs, ground cover and flowers; operates hand and chain saws to cut trees and wood.
• Operates various equipment and motor vehicles in performance of job duties.
• May assist facilities maintenance staff with maintenance functions.
• Ensure that all equipment functions properly, are properly operated, and are properly maintained.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirement

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Slip Resistant Shoes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.  Experience in landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, and the operation of groundskeeping equipment preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission. Valid California Driver’s License.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet, warm, hot, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold and hot.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
