Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with applicable union rules and payroll requirements. This person should be organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
• Process payroll accurately and on schedule for cast and crew
• Review, audit, and enter Showbiz timecards
• Interpret and apply SAG, DGA, and IATSE payroll rules
• Verify hours worked, rates, penalties, and other payroll data
• Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
• Communicate remotely with production staff, employees, and management regarding payroll questions or missing information
• Support payroll compliance with union agreements and company procedures
• Assist with reports, documentation, and other payroll-related administrative tasks
• Adapt to increased responsibilities if the role transitions to full-time
Qualifications
• Previous experience in payroll, preferably in entertainment or production payroll
• Experience using Showbiz timecards
• Strong working knowledge of SAG, DGA, and IATSE rules
• Ability to process payroll with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with payroll systems, spreadsheets, and standard office software
• Ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with entertainment payroll processing
• Familiarity with payroll reporting and recordkeeping requirements
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
