Role Summary
An Underwriting Assistant within the Property Facultative division needs to be an insurance-savvy individual, able to work within an ambitious team. The role is broad, diverse and hands-on, focusing on providing full round backing to the Rokstone Underwriters and Senior Underwriters, while maintaining a professional service to agents and markets.
Role Responsibilities
- Dealing with and reviewing enquiries and pre-underwriting the risk and exposure.
- Formulating terms and price following the instructions set out by the Directors.
- Producing timely & accurate reinsurance documentation (Certificates, Endorsements, Quotes).
- Assisting Underwriters with negotiating target terms.
- General administrative duties include scanning, filing, and entering data into relevant spreadsheets.
- Maintaining key relationships with markets and selected brokers.
- Producing debit/credit notes and processing premiums on the in-house system.
- Ad hoc management information tasks/projects.
- Maintain an electronic filing system.
- Liaising with reinsurance brokers and sending out policy documentation when requested.
Role Requirements
- Basic core understanding of insurance principles
- Experience in the Property insurance industry
- Proficient with the suite of Microsoft products with emphasis on Excel and Outlook.
- Understanding of property insurance
- At least 2.5 college GPA
- Use formal reporting mechanisms, as defined by Risk and Compliance or Internal Audit, to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures.
- At all times, consider the effect of any actions taken on the customers of the Company, with the intention of improving their experience.
