Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Controller supports the Director of Finance and Controller in overseeing the accounting operations of the division.
- This role plays a key part in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
What you will do:
- Support oversight of the accounting function, including accounts payable, subcontractor payables, payroll, receivables, job cost accounting, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure financial reporting and accounting practices comply with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and corporate leadership.
- Support development of annual operating budgets, housing budgets, capital budgets, land development budgets, and cash flow projections.
- Partner with leadership to analyze budget vs. actual performance and assist with financial forecasting and profitability analysis.
- Assist in the preparation and review of tax filings, including personal property, sales and use, and real estate tax returns.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and assisting with audit processes.
- Help design and maintain accounting procedures that strengthen financial controls and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure consistent cost coding and general ledger accounting practices.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred (or actively pursuing)
- 1–5 years of experience, ideally in public accounting (audit or assurance) or a corporate accounting environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls
- Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and variance analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
