Position Summary |
Designs, implements, and maintains the RCC network and server infrastructure, including physical, wireless, virtual networks/servers and cloud services; network security; data, user, security, and resource management; corporate-wide communications and collaboration platforms and application delivery, providing 99.9% uptime access for students, faculty, and staff. |
Primary Responsibilities |
| IT/Systems Administration - Implementation and management of security administration of network, server, and cloud resources
- Installation, monitoring, configuration, updating, and troubleshooting college servers
- Installation, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting, and updating/expansion of networking equipment
- Administration of cloud resources, including M365/Azure, Sophos, Backup/DR, CloudFlare DNS
- Serves as the primary contact for all inquiries regarding network services administration
- Research, design, and implement technology to improve productivity and growth
- Stay up-to-date on advancing technologies and make recommendations as appropriate
- Respond to end-user questions and issues
- Responsible for oversight of copyright laws, local and federal laws, and allegations of electronic harassment
- Collaborate with other IT areas and all other departments/divisions
- Compose and maintain procedural and technical documentation within scope

Qualifications & Additional Position Information |
| Minimum Qualifications - Education – A Bachelor’s degree in IT Administration or related area is required.
- Experience – A minimum of three years recent employment in computer networks, data processing, or management information systems required; at least one of those years in a computer customer/user support position is required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s). | Preferred Qualifications - Experience organizing and coordinating a technical support function, and in the functional areas of a community college, is preferred. Related Microsoft, Aruba/HP, and network security certifications are preferred.

| Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies) - Knowledge – Current Linux and Windows-based server and user operating systems, including all RCC-approved software applications; computer uses in community college administrative environment. Network hardware and software including wireless connectivity; computer and network security layer 2 and 3 networks; VLAN setup and administration; firewall configuration, investigation, and administration; Multi-Factor Authentication administration and training; Backup/DR administration. Support and training of end users.
- Skills – Strong organizational skills including re-prioritizing tasks. Skills in communicating effectively verbally and in writing; working cooperatively as a team member and collaborating with individuals from college’s technology areas. Skills in organizing, operating, and maintaining a customer-oriented service function.
- Abilities – Respond to functional area needs in developing the RCC IT infrastructure. Respond to network security threats/attacks, provide timely and courteous network repair, maintenance, and support. Work with other educational institutions and outside agencies to ensure proper connectivity and communication between the college and their sites and services. Multitask. Perform detailed work and maintain confidentiality of data and sensitive information. Pass a criminal background check and fitness for duty evaluation. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

| Other Requirements - For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

| Physical Demands The physical demands listed below represent those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 75%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials, 5 lbs. or less daily, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

| Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate. For up to 25% of the work period, employee may be exposed to noise and/or extreme temperatures while working in or around computer server rooms. Where appropriate, personal protective equipment will be issued and the employee will be trained in its proper application and use.

This is a Full-time Classified, 40-hour-per-week (100%) position in the Information Technology Services department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 8 on the 2025-26 Classified Wage Schedule.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Rogue Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
