Description

The Human Resources Director for the Coastal Mechanical Services (CMS) division is a key member responsible for leading the people’s strategy across all locations and functions. This role will oversee a team of two HR professionals and will align HR initiatives with business goals, fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence. The Director partners closely with the Chief People Officer and division leadership to strengthen team effectiveness, talent planning, employee engagement, and leadership development in support of continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the HR leader for the Division, partnering with operational leadership to identify, design, and execute people’s strategies that enable business success.
  • Lead and develop a team of HR professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to ensure consistent and high-quality HR delivery across the division.
  • Drive team effectiveness, talent planning, and succession strategies to support scalable growth and leadership bench strength.
  • Champion culture, ensuring that values are consistently reinforced across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding and development to recognition and retention.
  • Oversee performance management processes including feedback cycles, leadership assessments, and employee development planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the Talent Acquisition team to forecast workforce needs, identify critical roles, and drive proactive recruiting strategies for both field and office-based talent.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and company policies.
  • Leverage data and key performance metrics in Paylocity and other systems to drive insights, inform business decisions, and track progress toward HR and business goals.
  • Serve in a tactical and hands-on capacity, actively supporting orientation, coaching, performance evaluations, employee engagement, and frontline leader training.
  • Partner closely with frontline leaders to support day-to-day operations, providing guidance and HR support to drive consistency, accountability, and team effectiveness.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and change leader during periods of organizational transformation, growth, or restructuring, maintaining focus on engagement, communication, and alignment.
  • Partner with other HR Business Partners and Functional leaders (Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, Safety, and Payroll) to ensure consistency across the Company platform and alignment with enterprise-wide people initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Education, And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; master’s degree (MBA/MHRM) preferred.
  • 8–10 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within construction, mechanical contracting, or a similar field-based workforce environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and align HR strategy with business objectives.
  • Proven experience leading teams, managing multiple priorities, and executing HR initiatives in a multi-location environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, employee relations, and workforce development practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms (Paylocity preferred) and experience using data to drive business decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment, including occasional field or jobsite visits.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the Southeast region (primarily GA, FL, TX).
