We are partnering with a manufacturing company in Chelmsford, MA who is looking to add a Plant Controller to their team. This role will oversee the financial operations of the manufacturing facility, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience and a background working with government contracts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial activities for the manufacturing plant
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Oversee cost accounting, inventory, COGS, and manufacturing variances
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Analyze plant performance and provide variance analysis to leadership
- Monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies
- Support government contract accounting and related financial requirements
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and senior leadership on financial matters
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and financial performance
- Lead and develop accounting staff
- Support audits and other financial initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Plant or manufacturing Controller experience strongly preferred
- Strong cost accounting, inventory, COGS, and variance analysis experience
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Experience with government contracts in the manufacturing industry
- Strong understanding of internal controls and GAAP
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
- Previous management and team leadership experience
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days work from home
Compensation: $170K-$190K plus bonus
