Overview
The Payroll Coordinator supports the operations of the Finance and Human Resources departments, with a primary focus on payroll. Working closely with Finance and HR staff, the Coordinator is responsible for managing biweekly payroll, maintaining accurate payroll journal entries, organizing personnel files, and supporting recruiting and HR operations. This role ensures precise payroll processing while contributing to overall financial and HR efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Process all aspects of biweekly payroll, including documentation, pay rate and deduction changes, and reconciliation of the payroll GL account.
- Monitor and analyze payroll trends; conduct and document periodic anti-fraud procedures.
- Serve as primary point of contact for payroll inquiries from staff and managers, triaging and escalating issues as needed.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and other general ledger entries.
- Audit benefit enrollments and payroll deductions quarterly for accuracy.
- Manage personnel files and HR-related archives, both paper and electronic.
- Processing and recording remote check deposits.
- Serving as backup for recruiting and onboarding processes (e.g., I-9 verifications).
- Serving as backup for Accounts Payable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Paylocity payroll, time and labor, and other interfaces.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, payroll, or human resources.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism and diplomacy.
- High level of ownership and accountability, with the ability to multitask and manage projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, able to follow up with multiple management levels both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially in payroll, HRIS, and financial systems.
- Proficient with computers, including Google Workspace.
- Satisfactory background check, including credit check.
